Accusing Washington of having arm-twisted Saudi Arabia to send troops to turmoil-hit Bahrain, senior Shia leader today said that the move was a deadly threat to the unity of the Muslim world.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Accusing Washington of having arm-twisted Saudi Arabia to send troops to turmoil-hit Bahrain, senior Shia leader today said that the move was a deadly threat to the unity of the Muslim world.

“Deploying Saudi troops to crush the pro-democracy upsurge in Bahrain is a part of the US design to divide the Arab world into Shia-Sunni blocks in order to divert Arab sentiment away from Israel’s unspeakable crimes against humanity,” Agha Syed Hassan president of the Anjuman-e-Sharaie Shiayan said in a statement today.

“Cordial and fraternal ties between Iran and Saudi Arabia are pivotal for the unity of the Muslim world, and it is with this relationship in mind that imperialist powers forever seek means to create tensions and confrontation between the two,” Hassan an executive member of the multi-party Hurriyat Conference said.

“Oppression and violence on the Bahrain masses can lead to bitterness between Saudi Arabia and Iran, which could have a negative impact on the Arab world,” he said.

“But this should not disrupt the unity of the mature Kashmiri people,” he said.

Agha Hassan hoped that the OIC would adopt a truthful and just stand over the situation in Bahrain.

Meanwhile veteran Kashmiri leader and patron of Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen, Maulana Muhammad Abbas Ansari, has also lashed out at America for the ‘brazen double standards’ while dealing with the Muslim world.

In a statement issued here he said: “As Arabs rise to seek their long suppressed rights we are again witnessing the hypocrisy and opportunism of Western powers”.

He termed the interference of foreign armies in Bahrain a blatant attack on the rights of Bahraini people.

“We pray to Almighty Allah to give patience to the oppressed people of Bahrain and provide them with unity, togetherness and trust in God”, Maulana said.
